Super easy to reserve and check in. Campground worker, Kevin, was around when we needed him and gave us privacy when we wanted it! Overall a great experience and we will be back next year!

Cabin was clean and staff (Shelly) was amazing. A/c was broken, but there were many fans to help. One of the single beds was missing a mattress, just box spring , but as soon as we notified them a new mattress was delivered in less than 30 mins. Closet door knob was broken and could not turn. Minimal kitchen utensils and cookware but did the job.

Owners were very nice and accommodating. Close to beach and fishing. Would recommend we loved our time there.

Basic campground near to a boat ramp. Great for fishing and boating but not much for the kiddos. It would be better if the bar was open as well!

When we arrived to Thortons, there was no check in station. We drove around for 10 minutes and the signage was not displayed very well. The owner came out of a house and instructed us where to go. The website did not tell us the tent sites were non-electric. We ended up having to pay an extra $80. We asked for fire wood, they dropped off ply wood that you would see on a house. The website showed a bar. The bar was closed and for sale. We wish we would have known that before hand. The showers had cold water. There was a sign that said to turn on the faucet until the water turns hot then turn on the shower. But the women’s bathroom was cold water the whole time. The bathrooms also had mold and it was clear they are not cleaned regularly. We will never return and we were very disappointed for the 4th of July weekend.

We had a group of 11 and rented 4 of the 5 cabins. Our cabin had a septic issue and toilets stopped flushing, they did get it fixed. Another cabin had no curtains at all, and one of them had their door that wouldn’t lock. It did rain the whole weekend I know they can control that, but none of the cabins had tv’s and the bar/ restaurant on the property was closed the whole time. All in all we did have a great time, we made the most of it with the weather being so bad and not many outdoor activities to do. We would go back and hope for better weather next time.

Campsites are on hills which make it hard to level. Needs a lot of work on campsite. The bar area looks like a junk yard.

We went in mid September, it was quiet and had access right to the ATV/UTV trails.

We stayed at Thornton’s last week, and our visit was great. The cabin was clean and nice and Ben at the bar was fun. We also enjoyed the food and service.

We reserved our site online and when we arrived it was taken by someone else. No other campers were there all weekend but yet for some reason our site we reserved was not available when we arrived. Water was not available from any of the spigots located around the campground so we had to walk to the bathrooms to fill a bucket for our dog. I had to travel 6miles to get bags of ice as none were available on site, no check in station or any kind of amenities were available if needed. The public bathrooms were absolutely disgusting! Id rather lean against a tree. For the prices they charge now I’m extremely unsatisfied with the new ownership as I have been going there for the last 20 years. Pool, play grounds etc need to be added. Hope changes are made in near future or we will be finding a new place to go!

This was a tough review to write. We have camped at this site for 5 years. This year was the first year since new ownership. Pro’s- New owner was attentive daily asking if we needed anything. Brought us a fire ring on request Prepaid for Firewood and we had plenty already on the site upon arrival. Portapots were clean, had hand sanitizer and toilet paper anytime we used them. Owner gave me permission to park my pontoon boat on premises which was a huge help. Cons- The shower house and regular toilets are now under the ownership of the new bar owner. ( there previous owner owned both the camp grounds and the bar and on the back side of the building There are showers that use quarters and regular bathrooms). Now that this is not the case, when I mentioned to the camp owner that the woman’s room was filthy and that there was no toilet paper, I was informed that the owner of the bar (coyote den) was responsible. The amount of ant hills on the site was insane. Easily in the hundreds. While this is a nature activity, you can spray the sites the help With this. Overall pretty great experience. I will continue to make this my summer camping destination

The sites were large. At $55/night after taxes and booking fees. Paying for the showers (UGH!!) (BRING QUARTERS) was annoying. We would stay here again if there we no county or state park sites available. Overall, not bad other than the above...

The bar is not owned by the same person as the campground. The campground seems to have no person "working" it to resolve any issues or answer questions. The cabin was acceptable for what it was, but NO AIR CONDITIONING and the shower was moldy. We used the shower house, which was nice, but it is 50c to start the shower and a quarter per minute to continue. Even after following the instructions to run the sink to get hot water, then start the shower, your first 2 quarters are still a waiting game for hot water. We did survive the weekend, but this isn't something I would be eager to return to.
